Introduction

The pioneer laparoscopic surgery centre in the country and one of the high volume general surgery department and the only professionally managed laparoscopic training centre in the state, imparting training to national and international upcoming surgeons. The centre which initiate the paediatric laparoscopic procedures and therapeutic laparoscopy in trauma in the country for the first time. One of the Pioneer Video Thorascoscopy Surgery Centre in the country and one of the largest series of endoscopic hernia repair and stappled haemorrhoidectomy in the country.

Achievements

Performed 1st Laparoscopic Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery Centre in Kerala
Largest no.of endoscopic hernia repair stappled haemorrhoidectomy and laparoscopic appendicectomy done in the country.
Presented the paper on the first series of paediatric laparoscopic procedures(156) in the country at Chennai in the 7th Annual Conference of IAGESin 1999.
Having the one of the largest series of abdominal trauma in the state. Presented the paper on the only and first series of laparoscopic splenorrhaphy (14 pts.) in annual conference of ASI at Trivandrum in 2002 and bagged the Best Paper Award.
Presented the first paper on laparoscopic closure of duodenal ulcer perforation in the 2nd annual conference of IAGES at Mumbai in 1995 and holding the largest no. of lap.du closure in the country. The poster on the same subject got the best poster award in the annual conference of ASI in 2003 at Kottayam.
Trained > 100 Surgeons from inside and outside the country.
Developed own techniques in various minimal invasive surgical procedures.
